The Right Time
Timeless Love, Book 2
She kept his son a secret for three years. Now she's dying.
Monica fled town pregnant and heartbroken, unable to watch Julian marry another woman. For three years, she's raised their son alone, building a quiet life far from Paradiso Falls. But her failing heart is running out of time, and there's only one person she trusts to raise Jaylen after she's gone.
Julian's sister.
What she didn't expect was Julian himself.
Now that he knows the truth about his son, Julian refuses to let Monica disappear again. He demands custody, demands answers, and worst of all, he demands to marry her. Monica knows better than to accept. She's a dying woman with nothing to offer him but grief. Yet the chemistry that burned between them three years ago still smolders, threatening to destroy the careful walls she's built.
Julian is determined to give his son everything he’s ever had, and for the first time, Monica has something worth staying for. The tragedy is she may not have the time to keep it.
The anxious look Monica threw his way made him grunt in exasperation. Julian had no time for this. He’d just been through an emotionally wrenching experience and the last thing he needed was whatever crisis this was. “Look. If someone doesn’t speak up right now and tell me what’s going on, I’m out of here. There’s a bottle of Dom waiting, and,” he gave Xavier a dirty look, “I’m drinking it tonight, with or without help.”
Ryha took Monica by the hand and led her to the couch. Monica dropped heavily and buried her face in her hands for a moment before speaking. “After I left Paradiso Falls, I had a baby. A son. His name is Jaylen. He’s two.”
All eyes fixed on him. He looked back at them, perplexed. “Congratulations?”
Monica pressed her lips together and continued, “I came here to ask Ryha and Xavier to become his legal guardian. To raise him for me.”
He considered his sister, who already had two young children. “That’s a huge responsibility.”
“I know,” Monica said. “But they’re the only people I trust to raise him right.”
Julian narrowed his eyes. His sister was being taken advantage of by a woman leveraging an old friendship. “Sis, how do you feel about this? You already have two babies. A third could be overwhelming.”
“As long as you’re okay with it, Xavier and I wouldn’t mind,” Ryha said. “Jaylen is my biological nephew. He’s family.”
“That’s impossible,” Julian snapped. “I’m your only sibling.”
Ryha and Xavier stared at him, unblinking. Monica’s gaze turned to the carpet.
