His Muse

Unforgettable, Book 3

Rule #1 of one-night stands: Don’t fall for your brother’s best friend.
Rule #2: Definitely don’t get pregnant.
Oops.
I kept my daughter a secret for six years. I built a life without him. I convinced myself we were better off alone.
Now Conrad's back—irresistible in every way, and looking at me like he wants to pick up exactly where we left off on that unforgettable weekend years ago.
He thinks we're just roommates sharing a condo.
I know we're sharing much more than that.
When he discovers the truth about our daughter, his rage is as powerful as his touch.
He says he'll never forgive me.
I say I'll never give in.
But when his kisses leave me breathless and his love for our daughter melts every wall I’ve built, I’m running out of reasons to resist.
Conrad may write fiction for a living, but when it comes to us?
He’s determined to rewrite our ending—and this time, he wants forever.

My anger flared at his arrogance. “And what if our marriage breaks, Conrad? What if we end up hating each other? It would be worse for her. Two parents stuck in a loveless marriage, pretending for her sake while resenting each other.”

“You said what if. You’ll become my wife then?”

I glared at him, my heart pounding fiercely. “Don’t twist my words,” I hissed. “You’ve known Sunny for three months. I’ve cared for her all her life.”

“Because of your lies,” he cut in.

I ignored his words and continued. “There isn’t a judge who would consider taking my child away from me.”

His next words dripped with venom. “Just wait until my lawyers get your family members and Sunny’s pediatrician to testify about the house you bought—unsafe, uninspected. If I’m not mistaken, you skipped out on it, didn’t you?” His lips thinned into a cruel line. “The courts tend to take issue with negligence.”

“You’re trying to paint me as a bad mother? How dare you!”

“And let’s not forget how often Sunny’s with her grandparents or friends instead of you,” he added, his words cutting deep. “Makes one wonder if you’re truly present in her life.”

“All lies, and you know it!” I snapped, my voice trembling with anger. “Sunny loves spending time with her extended family and friends. They’re part of her support system!”

“Maybe,” Conrad conceded with a shrug, “but it seems you enjoy the time away from her more than she does.”

“You son of a bitch!” I seethed, my hands clenching into fists. “That’s not true. You’re talking as if I’m out partying when she’s not with me.”

I’d never wanted to slap someone this badly in my life. This man, who’d waltzed into our lives mere months ago, was threatening to drag my name through the mud and portray me as an unfit mother. My eyes stung with angry tears.

Conrad’s smirk only grew, his eyes cold and calculating. “It’s your side of the story. We’ll let a judge decide what’s true.”
